Mariachi ist die bekannteste aller mexikanischen Musikformen und damit wird klar, warum sie sich The Sexican nennen und worauf sie sich beziehen: Sie spielen Mariachi inspirierten Gipsy Rock mit einer Prise Balkan-Polka-Punk. Ihr Komponist und Frontmann Mike Hecchi macht vor keinem Genre halt. Egal ob kubanischer Son oder dänische Polka, jedes Element wird genutzt, solange es die Botschaft der Songs unterstützt. Oft sind die in Französisch, Spanisch und Englisch gesungenen Sexican Texte gesellschaftskritisch, trotzdem bleibt genügend Raum für Spaß und Unterhaltung. The Sexican plays Mariachi inspired Gipsy Rock with a twist of Balkan polka punk! The musical offspring is World Rock with elements of Mariachi, Gipsy and Balkan tonality. The bands’ songwiter and frontman Mike Hecchi says about the bands inspiration that it can be – ‘anything from Cuban Folk to Hungarian Polka’ and that ‘any element and genre is used as long as it seems to under- line the message of the songs…’
The lyrics are sharp and often with critical views on modern society and the lack of international community, while there’s still room for celebration and the ‘joie de vivre’- joy of life.
The latter is especially noticeable at their explosive live-shows. It is no coincidence that ‘energy’ is the word repeated through every single live review written on the band in its six years of existence. They are known for their contagious energy on stage, which often induces spontaneous chain dances among audiences.
The Sexican will be touring Europe and Central America throughout 2013 in support of the new album before heading home for a tour in Scandinavia early 2014.

Mariachi to najpopularniejsza ze wszystkich form muzyki meksykańskiej i to tłumaczy, dlaczego The Sexican tak się nazywają i do czego nawiązują: Grają oni gipsy-rock inspirowany Mariachi ze szczyptą wpływów muzyki bałkańskiej, polki i punka. Kompozytor i frontman zespołu Mike Hecchi nie boi się żadnego gatunku. Niezależnie czy jest to kubański son czy też duńska polka, każdy element zostaje wykorzystany, jeśli podkreśla on przekaz utworów. Teksty grupy Sexican śpiewane po francusku, hiszpańsku i angielsku stanowią często krytykę wobec społeczeństwa, mimo to wystarczająco dużo miejsca pozostaje na zabawę i rozrywkę.
