Nach den Holzpantoffeln der Bauern im Spreewald haben sich diese drei Musiker benannt. Sie stehen ganz in der Tradition sorbischer Volksmusikanten. Mit typischen Instrumenten, wie z.B. Brummtopf, Maultrommel, Schalmei oder auch Kozol, dem sorbischen Dudelsack, spielen sie sorbisch – wendische Lieder und Tänze. Als Vollblutmusikanten sind sie neben der Folklore auch in vielen anderen Genres zu Hause. Mit ihren Drjewjanki, dem schweren, traditionellen Schuhwerk der Spreewälder symbolisieren sie Bodenständigkeit und hörbares Tanzvergnügen. Alte Bauernregel: Klappern gehört zum Geschäft.

This trio took their name from the wooden clogs the farmers in the Spreewald area used to wear in former times. Continuing the tradition of Sorbian folk, they play Sorbian and Wendish songs on instruments including the Brummtopf – made out of a stick, a hide and an earthen pot, the Maultrommel or Jew’s harp, the Schalmei (schawm) and the Sorbian bagpipes (Kozol). But true musicians as they are, they are also at home in any number of other genres. Cheerfully clacking away in their Drjewjanki clogs, they celebrate the pleasure of music and dancing and honor the old country saying that making a noise is part of the trade.

Nazwę dla swojego zespołu tych troje muzyków wzięło od drewnianych pantofli szprewaldzkich chłopów. Są całkowicie osadzeni są w tradycji łużyckiej muzyki ludowej. Grając na typowych instrumentach, takich jak burczybas, drumla, szałamaja czy kozioł, łużyckie dudy, wykonują łużyckie i dolnołużyckie pieśni i tańce. Jako na rasowych muzykantów przystało, obok folkloru jak ryby w wodzie czują się oni również w wielu innych gatunkach. Ze swoimi drjewjankami, ciężkim, tradycyjnym szprewaldzkim obuwiem, symbolizują autochtoniczność jak i odczuwalną radość z tańca. Stara zasada chłopów: Bez tupania nie ma grania.
